At the Cairo terminal keep your eyes open for the Travel Talk
sign, we pick you up from the airport and take you to our Cairo hotel. Gather
round in the hotel lobby at 6:00pm as we meet both the other tour members and
the guide for an informal meeting.
Day 2: Cairo.
After
breakfast we visit the Giza Plateau to explore the world famous pyramids of
Cheops, Chephren and Mycrenos. The afternoon is left to site-see Sakkara; the
first capital of ancient Egypt, famous for its step pyramid built by King Zoser
in 2700 B.C. This evening it’s ´ALL ABOARD´ the overnight train to Aswan.
Day
3: Aswan
Our day starts with the discovery of the High Dam and then a visit to the Philae
Temple (sacred place dedicated to the Goddess Isis), and then the unfinished
Obelisk.
Day 4:
Felucca Cruise on Nile.
Today we get back to basics and jump
onboard our Felucca sail boat, bound for the Elephantine and Kitchener Islands
on the River Nile. Our floating Felucca continues north and we pull out the old
sleeping bag for the night on deck while our local captain makes us at home with
locally made meals.
Day 5: Felucca Cruise on
Nile.
Today we sail all day long on Nile, watching the beautiful
scenery pass us by and wave to the locals continuing their day of washing,
swimming and fishing. Whilst being absorbed by the culture we can sit back and
enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of one of the greatest rivers on the earth.
Day 6: Felucca
Cruise on Nile, Luxor.
Today we visit Edfu and Komombo temples
and then we say farewell to our floating home and
disembark.
Day 7:
Luxor, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut, Cairo
After
breakfast we depart for the West Bank of the Nile where our donkey awaits to
take us into the Valley of the Kings through quiet roads with lovely views of
the Nile. Next is our discovery of the magnificent “city of the Dead” where
tombs were carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly, and filled with
treasures for the Pharaoh afterlife. Rising out of the desert plain in a series
of terraces, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut is our next stop. Today we also
visit the temple of Luxor on the East Bank of the Nile which was dedicated to
the great god Amun, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu (the mood god) together
represents the Theban triad. The temple was built on the site of a probable
smaller structure for the god Amun, while the earliest parts of the temple seen
today date from the 14th century BC and the time of Amenhotep III. In the
afternoon we proceed to the Temple of Karnak, one of the most important
religious centers of ancient Egypt. This evening we will board our overnight
train to Cairo.
Day 8:Cairo.
Our journey continues with a
visit to one of the most important museums in the ancient world, the Egyptian
Museum houses more than 100,000 relics of Egypt. Today we discover the Citadel
of Saladin, Mosque of Mohamed Ali, the Hanging Church and the world famous Kahn
El Khalili bazaar.
Day 9 & 10:Cairo, Nuweiba, Dahab.
Relax and unwind next to the sea with all the activities available including
swimming, snorkeling, diving, camel treks, jeep safaris and more!!
Day 11:Dahab, Mt. Sinai Trek.
In the afternoon we’ll depart
for St. Catherine. Early in the morning (about1:30 a.m. Day 12) we’ll ascend Mt.
Sinai, where as the night ends you can witness the spectacular sunrise which
blankets the surrounding peaks in gold and unveils one of the best views in
Egypt.
Day 12 & 13:St Catherine, Dahab.
In the morning
of day 12 we’ll visit St. Catherine Monastery and travel back to Dahab. Two more
days to savor the sun, sand, sea at this popular Red Sea resort.
Day
14 Dahab, Cairo
After spending the day in Dahab, we'll board our
overnight coach back to Cairo in the evening.
Day 15 Cario
Our trip ends in Cairo (08:00am) Our representative will transport you to the
airport
